The Elizabeth Casson Trust is celebrating its 75th year – and we’d like to make it a worthy celebration! We want you to play and active part in that, so we’re launching a new competition. Read on for more details…
Dr Elizabeth Casson was a tour de force. Like many, she hit a few road bumps along the way that she had to overcome. However her achievements are plain to see:
- Did you know she started the profession of occupational therapy in England, even though she was a psychiatrist?
- Did you know she founded and funded the Elizabeth Casson Trust which invests over £350,000 back into the profession through grants and awards each year?
How much do you know about Elizabeth? Why is she important?
How much do you know about the Trust? How can it help you?

OUR VIDEO COMPETITION
We are inviting OTs, assistants, technicians, and students to make a short video* telling us what inspires you about Elizabeth or about her legacy of the Trust. Films can be created by individuals or teams.
The competition will be judged by you at the OT Show, so come see us at our stand to vote for your favourite.
The winning video will be hosted on our website, and a prize of £500 will be given for the winner(s) to invest in wellbeing activities.
Send your entry to Pam ([email protected]) and Suzanne ([email protected])viaWeTransferor tag us on X (@elizabethcasso1) or Instagram (elizabethcassontrust). Closing date 6 November.
We look forward to seeing your videos and hearing your thoughts.
This competition was inspired by a group of Glasgow Caledonian 1st year OT students (Emma Idowu, Amy Wallen, Chibuikem Nwannah, Joy Akpanumoh, Julie-Anne Shearer, Blessing Christian) who made a video and shared it with us on the Trust’s ‘birthday’, 30 June. You can view the video here.
