Develop the practice of occupational therapy

In line with the Trust’s strategic intentions to develop strategies for engagement of occupational therapists at all stages of their learning and career journey, and embodying our founder’s pioneering spirit, the Elizabeth Casson Trust is pleased to offer our International Scholarship Award. This is an opportunity for you to design your own international study tour to meet your professional learning objectives.

The International Scholarship is intended for UK occupational therapists to reorient their careers and lift themselves to a higher professional level. Successful applicants will be able to learn from the best in the world and then change not only their own practice but also influence service delivery, strategy and policy both locally and nationally. Clinicians highly experienced in their own area of practice will, in addition to learning from others, be expected to share their expert knowledge in areas where occupational therapy is a developing/ emerging profession.

Case Studies

As an OT who has worked and has a specialist interest in disaster risk reduction and response (DRR), completing this course has furthered my passion in ensuring the most vulnerable members of our society, e.g. children and those with a disability, have their needs properly catered for prior and post disasters. The importance of occupational therapist taking the helm in educating society in the significance of adequate risk assessments and ensuring environments enable all people rather than disabled, has never been more important. This course has equip me with the academic confidence to continue my work in the field of DRR.
