Archive of the early years of occupational therapy in the UK

As we celebrate International Women’s Day many people are remembering Dr Elizabeth Casson – the founder of this Trust and a pioneer, innovator and leader.

Learn more about how she introduced occupational therapy to the UK here.

To ensure the history of this lady’s remarkable achievements isn’t lost, the Trust has had photographs and papers digitised  for posterity. These can be found here including pictures of Dr Casson, Dorset House and occupational therapy in its early years. Just fascinating pictures – do take a look!

Oxford Brookes University holds the actual papers in the Dorset House archive, part of their Special Collectionsin. If you would like to browse these arrangements can be made via Eleanor Possart at [email protected]. If you should see Eleanor, do give her a big thanks for all her hard work on this project!
