Sensory Integration for Mental Health and Wellbeing

Attending the Sensory Integration for Mental Health and Wellbeing workshop has been incredibly beneficial in enabling me to understand and demonstrate how sensory integration underpins occupational performance, and how environmental modifications and activity based strategies can be used to promote functioning. This has assisted staff and service users to develop insight into their sensory needs and preferences and to develop positive coping mechanisms that promote wellbeing and recovery. I believe that we can now work as a team to extend the scope of Occupational Therapy on my acute mental health ward and highlight the value of Occupational Therapy to the multi-disciplinary team and service users.
