Sensory Intergration module 1

Attending the Sensory Integration Module 1: Foundations and Neuroscience has been very valuable for my professional development and has enabled me to gain knowledge and increase my understanding regarding how sensory integration and the sensory systems impact on basic function and child development. The module provided me with an insight into the implications of sensory dysfunction and highlighted that a child may be experiencing a range of difficulties due to sensory issues rather than physical or lack of opportunities to develop. For my professional development it has enabled me to acknowledge, reflect and trial a different approach to assessment and intervention and address the child as a whole rather than as two separate entities. This enables the provision of a more holistic and in depth assessment provided to children and their families, increasing the quality of the service provided.
