European Academy of Childhood Disability

I used an Elizabeth Casson Trust grant in order to attend the European Academy of Childhood Disability conference in Amsterdam. This was an excellent opportunity in which I met leading professionals across different disciplines within the field of childhood disability. As a children’s occupational therapist and PhD student researching the experience of play for children with high levels of physical disability due to Cerebral Palsy this was a valuable experience. I was able to attend seminars on a range of topics both relevant to my practice as an OT and my research. I was reminded of the importance of early intervention, of including children and families in decision making and of the current research into the muscle in Cerebral Palsy.
