Support for Continuing Professional Development

Continuing professional development (CPD) is a requirement to maintain registration and is also part of our professional ethos. However, the cost for participating can sometimes be unaffordable for individuals. To help you with this the Elizabeth Casson Trust offers continuing professional development grants.

We welcome applications from any qualified occupational therapist in the UK. We also have a small annual budget for international applications.
Our FAQs contain useful information to help you; we suggest you take a look before applying. We recommend you look at our strategy before making your application.

Team/Department Development

Recently, we have started to receive requests from teams who have invited a presenter to come to their department to deliver CPD. This allows you to tailor a programme to address your needs and is often very cost-effective. Please see here for examples that we have supported in the past.

Bespoke Opportunities

This is a new, and perhaps the most exciting, area of funding we offer. The learning opportunity can be shaped by you and may include study tours or events you have designed to meet your individual needs.
When applying for this funding, you must make sure there are clear objectives for the event and show how these will link to your practice or professional development.
Email Pam Anderson at [new email address here] if you are uncertain or have any questions about your ideas for this CPD.

Case Studies

This conference has been an excellent opportunity to keep abreast of best practice across the many services that my team are involved with. I have already been able to put some of this new knowledge to use and have plans to do more in the medium and long term. From a strategic perspective the knowledge that I have gained has been influential on my thinking for the future direction of the department and will greatly assist with our goal of knowledge transfer to our community colleagues.
