AOTA: School Based Specialty Conference

The AOTA school-based OT practice conference provided me with a fantastic opportunity to meet with fellow practitioners to share best-practice and explore commonalities between services despite different health care systems and legislation. The conference provided a platform to reflect on my current practice and the practice of my service, particularly in the areas of supporting transitions across the lifespan and it empowered me to consider participation in meaningful school-based occupations through the lens of occupational justice. Through presenting two posters on service innovation, I have been able to share and explain our service delivery model, and discuss the affordances and challenges of measuring whole-school targeted outcomes. These discussions have already influenced my practice by reviewing how we gather, measure and use feedback from our service users to shape our service.
